Japanese service was always great. Delicious food, but kind of expensive

Taste is very good but the eel is not thick/fat enough even we order the biggest bowl.

The store has opened for at least two hundred years, definitely a must-to-try restaurant when visiting Kawagoe. We ordered smoked eel dong (4500yen or thereabouts per set), includes pickles and soup, Japanese style pepper powder served on each table can elevate the flavor but not really spicy so please remember to add it!

Tasty unagi set makes the time waiting for it worthwhile. Ordered a standard size meal.

Very popular and busy place for eel food! Most case waiting time is around 30 mins to a hour! However, the foods and staffs, everything is perfect!

Really nice restaurant with very good unagi. Service was relatively quick and I like the homely atmosphere. Did find it to be a bit overpriced, however and I ordered the “extra large” unagi but to be honest, I didn’t find the portion size to be all that different from the regular so felt like I paid an extra 2000 yen for nothing. So will be a single visit for me. Still worth going if you’re a huge unagi fan, however.

Must try and highly recommend this famous eel restaurant!!Other than eel, another must try is fried fish bone!Pricey but worth! Write down your name at the waiting list and come back before your turn! Estimated waiting time is around 1 hour!

The taste is exactly good but in the overall, waiting time and price, is not the good enough to wait for 2 hours so be sure you going there at least 30 min before the opening time

Restaurant in a beautiful old Japanese house. Little bit expensive but food and service are great. English and Chinese menu are available. Be prepared to wait for a bit if time as this restaurant is quite popular in this area.

Great eel restaurant!!! Easy to find...located at the "romantic street". Pricey but worth every penny. They have English and Chinese menu but do note that the Japanese version has more items listed. So if you can read Japanese, I suggest you ask for the Japanese menu.

Overrated, eel's quality was definitely not the best. Cash only.

Interesting old house, nice food

I had to try unaju (grilled eel over rice) while visiting Kawagoe. I arrived just before noon on a Monday and was able to get a seat immediately. Friendly staff, cozy interior, and very tasty food. Lunch unaju was 2850 yen. Pricey but very good. The place quickly filled up after I arrived.

Beautifully restored warehouse district with interesting stores selling kitchen knifes, katanga, etc. Worth a day trip from Tokyo.

There was a crowd of about 15 person queue-ing when I was there at 11.30am. Waited for about 45 minutes before we got a seat. We ordered the Unaju and Torikaba-Sanshoku. Food was served within 10 minutes despite the crowd. The unagi is fresh, tasty and most importantly doesn't smell. The Torikaba is heavenly, the rice covered with scrambled egg and roasted ground chicken really enhanced the taste of this dish. If you do not eat unagi, the torikaba dish is highly recommend. Lastly, the service is excellent. Staffs are very friendly and make us feel at home.

Price a bit high and need to queue up for around 30 mins. It’s an old historic building and have two levels. But for me it’s not worth to queue so long and pay at that price to taste it.

Best unagi of my life

I will say this is the only best food in this district, but not in tokyo area, quality and service is good, but not the best Eel i ever tried

3,xxx yen for a regular eel rice box and 2,xxx for omlet with eel inside are too expensive for me but they are delicious. I got 9,500 yen for 2 regular box and 1 omlet.

Excellent unagi restaurant. I always come back to this restaurant because it never disappoints. Sometimes, there can be a large crowd waiting outside but it's worth the wait.
